Amanda R. Byers, O.D.

Dr. Byers studied at Western Kentucky University, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biology. She continued on at Nova Southeastern University and earned her Doctorate of Optometry there. Since 2010, Dr. Byers has provided eye care to the patients of Academy of Eye Care. She believes in preventative eye care and the preservation of good eye health with regular checkups and utilizing a team approach between the patient and the doctor.

Outside of patient care, Dr. Byers is an active member of Junior League, Kiwanis, and the Bay County Chamber of Commerce. She was married in 2005 to her husband, Nicholas, and they have two beautiful daughters, Layla James and Livvy Grace, and three other “children”-- Pekingese (Ajax, Derby, & Bogey).

Our staff's commitment to making each patient's needs a top priority is what makes our office successful. Every member of our staff is trained to assist in all aspects of your eye care experience.

While originally from Montana, Betsy moved to the Florida Panhandle and joined the Academy of Eye Care team six years ago. She is the proud mother one little girl and one fluffy pup.

Sherri and her husband, Mark, have called Panama City home for the past seven years but have lived all over the country. They enjoy travelling and spending time on their boat.

Our lab manager, Nich, has been creating custom glasses for patients for ten years. He is married to Dr. Byers. Prior to joining her in the eye care industry, Nich played semi-professional football. He loves to golf, fish and spend time with his family at the beach.

Aubrey grew up in South Alabama but moved to Florida because of her love of the beach. She is a lover of dogs - especially her rescue pup, Charli. Aubrey is a JCAHPO Certified Ophthalmic Assistant and is passionate about vision. She is also an avid Auburn fan - War Eagle!

A Panama City native, Sparkle joined our team as a technician this spring and her patience and smile have made her a favorite with our patients. She is the proud mother of two boys. Sparkle enjoys football (Go Gators!), travelling and shopping during her free time.
