Dr.Amanda Byers

Byers pic cropped.jpg

Dr. Amanda Byers and her husband, Nicholas, are both native Kentuckians and met while attending Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY (GO TOPS!).  They were brought to the Sunshine state when Dr. Byers began Optometry school at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale.

After graduating with honors from NSU, Nicholas and Amanda looked to the Panhandle of Florida for potential opportunities because of their love of the white sand beaches and small town atmosphere.  They first moved to the Gulf Coast almost 3 years ago and recently to Panama City for Dr. Byers to care for patients at Academy of Eye Care.  They are settling into this beautiful area and have already began to develop strong ties in the community.

At Academy of Eye Care, Dr. Byers provides eye examinations for corrective eyewear and provides treatment and management for eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, diabetes, hypertension, and macular degeneration.  She is certified in Orthokeratology corneal refractive/reshaping therapy. Patients can be assured that Dr. Byers will demonstrate thoughtfulness and consideration in caring for all their visual needs.

The humanitarian efforts of Dr. Byers are seen through her contributions to organizations such as VisionQuest, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing eye examinations and glasses for children in need. She is also an enthusiastic provider of complimentary eye examinations to any infant younger than 12 months old through the American Optometric Association's InfantSEE program.

Our Team

Our staff would like to welcome you to our friendly and caring environment.  We promise we will not treat you like a number, or herd you through the examination like cattle. The Doctor will perform the key components of your exam, including the prescription check and dilation.  Our goal is that every patient will be treated like a member of our own family.
