Did you ever want to know how people who are nearsighted see? Or what does Glaucoma and Macular degeneration do to your vision? WebMD has a great simulation for many eye disorders. Click here.
Technology has finally caught up with demand. Patients with astigmatism can now have the vision they need in the healthiest kind of contact lenses. 1-Day Acuvue Moist for Astigmatism launched earlier this year with plans to continue to expand prescription parameters. Daily disposable lenses have always been known for the convenience but many do not realize that this is the best kind of lens for your eyes. The material used in these lenses locks in moisture so there is no dryness issues here. With no cleaning required you don’t have to worry about build up or bacteria, and you save money on cleaning solutions. Most importantly the risk of eye infection is significantly less in daily disposable lenses. So come in or give us a call and we can set you up to see Dr. Byers and get your free trial of daily disposable lenses.
Experts believe that more than 70% of all learning is gained through the use of vision. According to the American Optometric Association (AOA), one out of four children in the U.S. have visual problems that could impair learning, and many go undetected. In 2010, an AOA teacher survey demonstrated a relationship between classroom behavior and vision. More than 60% of surveyed teachers reported improvement in either behavior or academic performance after visual problems were diagnosed and treated. The AOA recommends a first assessment at six months for children, the first comprehensive exam at age 3, another before entering school and every two years thereafter, unless otherwise indicated by their optometrist or ophthalmologist. “Every year 3.2 million people go blind from prolonged UV exposure.” – World Health Organization .
The sun’s UV radiation can cause cataracts; benign growths on the eye’s surface; cancer of the eyelids and skin around the eyes; and photokeratitis, sometimes called snow blindness, which is a temporary but painful sunburn of the eye’s surface. Of course we all want to look good too. The latest trends in sunwear are vintage cat-eye shapes, two-tone selections and gradient polarization. So stop by and let our staff show you the latest in fashion and function. |
